BEST DRIVE MID CENTURY

On first sight, our clients saw the potential in the Best Drive Mid-Century despite its poor condition and poorly balanced floor plan.

With two primary moves, eliminating a central wall and adding a large front deck, the poorly balanced floor plan was remedied giving the home potential to become an open, comfortable living space despite the modest footprint.

With an original footprint of 864 square feet, Best Drive Mid-century is nearly one-half the square footage of the median home in the U.S. The decision was made not to make an addition, but focus on making the 864 square feet as efficient and livable as possible.

Best Drive Mid-Century is a post and beam single-family home originally built in 1960 in Athens, Georgia. After nearly 5 decades as a rental property with no renovation work, the home was worn out and tired.

In collaboration with our client, we completed a top-to-bottom renovation with the ethos of making the house the best version of itself: honoring the unique original design while improving on existing shortcomings and creating a contemporary family home.
